This ‘Proud Veteran Enamel Pin’ was designed to honor all veterans who have served the United States. There were two pins designed. One for veterans and one for supporters.
The second eagle pin was just a passion project. If I created something to symbolize the pride in our country it would go in that direction.
When someone says, “Can you make a symbolic veteran pin for the 11% of veterans in our organization?” I say, “Oh yeah. Here are some options…”
I thought it would be iconic to include some latin with a powerful meaning - Not For Ourselves Alone. Many military arms have their own latin phrases, so I did heavy research to make sure there was no overlap.
These pins are proudly warn by all veterans who work for the City of College Station - from Fire, to Police, to sanitation, to all.
This supporter pin is marked with a handout to aid in understanding all the meaning behind the pin.
The key stakeholders were HR Director, Communications Director and City Manager. They reviewed these designs for the veteran pin and the supporter pin and chose the oval pin with the star.
