October 2017 Mood Board

Jumping Out of the Creative Slump

This month is easily my favorite month of the year. It's true, it is my birthday month and the month of my wedding anniversary but that's not why I love the beginning of Fall. I love the feeling of brisk weather and dark afternoons. The rain is energizing and the leaves are breathtaking. Pumpkin Spice lattes are the only thing that lures me into Starbucks anymore and I wait all year for that first sip. I adore the cascading light on white walls as the sun hides behind the hills and I dream of Vermont's winding roads in the northern mountains. Even YouTube tutorials concerning the best face art for Halloween bring me massive smiles.

The only thing that makes me step back is the color orange. I can't say I love it, partly because the color looks horrible on my skin. And that, I don't openly admit to most people.

Now for the truth, concerning the intimate details of my life; I'm in a creative slump. It's easy to get into a slump. A creative crevice. And there is absolutely nothing fun about it. There are a few reasons; stress is the major factor. Hustle is real, but I haven't dealt with the stress that comes with it and it has all caught up to me. But I'm working on dealing with it in the healthiest way I can and these photos are where I'm starting. (Secondly, I can't get enough of listening to Lauv.)

With these photos I feel creative and vibrant again. I remember what the Oregon rain smells like and how candles in the window sill feel. It's more than the best. I'm tired of being hot. I'm tired of sweating in pumpkin patches or waiting until the sun goes down to take walks. I can't wait to do workouts outside without drinking a pint of water in preparation. It's so true; I'm tired of the heat.

New Monthly Goal

I'm going to start slow on this blog process as I cycle back up to writing more; but I do know mood boards are absolutely life-giving. I am going to make one at the start of every month. Who's with me? If you want to keep up to date on these feelers sign up for my newsletter below!
